Prosthodontics

Prosthodontic procedures include dental crown in Mukherjee Nagar, bridges, veneers, inlays, onlays, complete and partial dentures. Dental implants have become the preferred method for replacing missing teeth, so many prosthodontic procedures today are done with implants as the support instead of the natural teeth or gums. Prosthodontic care is provided by both general dentists and prosthodontic specialists called prosthodontists.

Why do I need a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are recognized as the diagnosis and treatment planning experts. Identification of the cause of oral deterioration is a key element to any dental treatment in order to stop the progression of disease, minimize its impact, develop an effective treatment strategy and prevent future recurrence of disease.
A prosthodontist has two to three additional years of training in clinical restorative procedures beyond a general dental degree, and attains a very high level of skills in the restoration of function and esthetics of the compromised dentition (teeth).

When a patient no longer has any natural teeth, complete dentures are the traditional method to restore function and appearance. Many patients experience difficulty wearing conventional dentures because of poor stability and decreased chewing function. The use of dental implants to improve the stability and retention of dentures is becoming quite popular.

Today’s dental implants are typically made of titanium and may be parallel-sided or tapered and may or may not have threads. These fixtures are placed into the jawbone and allowed to heal until they are “integrated” into the bone. Dental implants may be used to replace one, many or all of a patient’s teeth.

Traditional methods to replace a missing tooth or teeth include the fabrication of a bridge. To replace a missing tooth with a bridge, at least one tooth on either side of the space created by the missing tooth must be prepared for a crown. Then a false tooth is joined to the crowns, and the entire structure is cemented to the prepared teeth. The patient cannot remove the bridge, and special aids are available to keep it clean. SmileKonnekt is the best clinic for dental crown in Mukherjee Nagar.

CAD/CAM dentistry is a field of dentistry and prosthodontics using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) to improve the design and creation of dental restorations, especially dental prostheses, including crowns, crown lays, veneers, inlays and onlays, fixed bridges, dental implant restorations, dentures (removable or fixed), and orthodontic appliances.

Porcelain veneers are used to modify the shape and color of teeth. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are etched and then bonded to the enamel of the teeth. Tooth preparation is necessary to avoid over bulking of the tooth, but it is limited to the enamel and usually involves only a few surfaces of the tooth.

To protect the teeth from further wear and splintering as well as to remedy pain and tension in the muscles, we offer to make you a special strain-relief splint that is worn during sleep and prevents tooth injuries and an over-straining of the muscles. It is produced individually in our dental laboratory based on the imprint of your teeth. The manufacture procedures are utterly painless.
